How do I care for my timber furniture?Updated 2 months ago
Most of our timber products are finished with a clear lacquer from the factory. To keep your furniture looking its best:
Everyday care:
Simply wipe the surface with a damp microfibre cloth to remove dust and light marks.
Deep cleaning:
For a more thorough clean, use a mild natural soap diluted in water on a soft cloth, then wipe again with a clean damp cloth to remove any residue. Always test your cleaner on a small, hidden area first. Avoid harsh chemicals, silicone-based polishes, or abrasive cleaners as they can damage the finish.
Protecting from heat:
Timber can be sensitive to heat. Always use coasters, placemats, or heatproof mats under hot dishes, mugs, and appliances. Prolonged exposure to heat can cause the finish to discolour or the timber to dry and crack.
Avoiding direct sunlight:
Extended exposure to direct sunlight can cause timber to fade, darken, or warp. Try to position your furniture away from strong sunlight or use curtains, blinds, or UV-filtering films on nearby windows.
Preventing scratches:
Use felt pads under decorative items, lamps, and vases. Avoid dragging objects across the surface and use a tablecloth or runner for added protection, especially during meals or gatherings.
Minimising impact damage:
Timber is durable but not immune to dents or chips. Take care when moving heavy objects or chairs, and consider using protective floor pads to prevent knocks and edge damage.
Protecting from spills:
Wipe up any liquid spills immediately with a soft, dry cloth. Even with a protective finish, standing water or other liquids can cause staining, swelling, or surface damage if left too long.
